SPECIAL MOMENTS - GAME-USED SUPER BOWL XLIV SOD

Every Super Bowl provides its unique and historic  “special moments” – that key tackle, big interception, long run, impossible catch or winning play for both teams.  For the first time ever, fans and collectors can now own an actual piece of sod from where that play occurred on the field.  Each spot will be limited to 3’ x 3’ or 9 square feet and yield only 144 3” x 3” collectible pieces. 

Stadium Associates is offering 13 Special Moments from Super Bowl XLIV.  Each Special Moment is being harvested Tuesday, February 16, 2010 and will be immediately preserved and then  encased after being freeze-dried.  Each piece will have a photograph from the game and include all game statistics and a description of the Special Moment.  Each card will be individually numbered 1 - 144.

Saints Special Moment #1 - Buy Now

It may have been the gutsiest call in Super Bowl history, and many felt it was the play that turned the tempo of the game.  The Saints opened the second half with a shocking onside kick, and recovered it on their own 42 yard line, leading to a touchdown that would put them ahead.

Saints Special Moment #2 - Buy Now

This is from the spot where Pierre Thomas caught the screen pass for the TD at the start of the second half following the recovery of the onside kick.  The Saints went ahead 13-10 at this point

Saints Special Moment #3 - Buy Now

This is the spot from which Garrett Hartley kicked his Super Bowl record third field goal from over 40 yards.  The 47-yarder put the Saints within a point, as the third quarter neared its conclusion.  The piece is from the hashmark on the 37 yard line, where the kick took place.

Saints Special Moment #4 - Buy Now

This is spot where Drew Brees completed a touchdown pass to Jeremy Shockey with just under six minutes remaining in the game.  It put the Saints up 22-17.  The pass was only two yards, but in Saints history, will live forever as the play that put the team ahead – a lead they never relinquished. 

Saints Special Moment #5 - Buy Now

This is the spot where Lance Moore caught the 2 pt conversion from Drew Brees that put the Saints up 24-17.  The play, first ruled incomplete, was challenged, and then reversed.  It was another gutsy call by coach Sean Payton.

Saints Special Moment #6 - Buy Now

This is the spot that sealed victory for the Saints – their first ever Super Bowl triumph.  With 3:24 left in the game, Peyton Manning’s pass was intercepted by Tracy Porter at the New Orleans 26 yard line and returned 74 yards for a touchdown and a 31-17 New Orleans lead. 

Saints Special Moment # 7 - Buy Now

The Saints won the coin toss and elected to receive.  After the kick return, they began their first offensive play in Super Bowl history from their own 23 yd line.  This piece is taken from the line of scrimmage of the Saints first play in Super Bowl XLIV

Saints Special Moment #8 - Buy Now

The very first play from scrimmage in Saints Super Bowl history was a handoff from Drew Brees to Pierre Thomas from the Saints own 23 yard line for a gain of two yards.

Saints Special Moment #9 - Buy Now

The Saints tied a record with 32 pass completions in Super Bowl XLIV.  That journey began with 14:22 left in the first quarter as Drew Brees backed up from his 25 yard line to though his first pass in the Super Bowl, and the first in Saints history.

Saints Special Moment #10 - Buy Now

On the Saints second play from scrimmage in their very first Super Bowl, Drew Brees, the eventual MVP of the game threw a short pass to Pierre Thomas who gained six yards to move to the Saints own 31 yard line.  This would be the first pass completion in Super Bowl history for New Orleans.

Special Moment #11 - Buy Now

This is from the spot of Garrett Hartley’s first of three field goals of 40 yards of more, a Super Bowl record.  This was a 46-yarder that represented the Saints first ever scoring play in a Super Bowl, and cut the Colts lead to 10-3 with 9:40 left in the second quarter.

Special Moment #12 - Buy Now

On the final play of the first half, Garrett Harley kicked his second of what would be a Super Bowl record three field goals of over 40 yards each.  This one was 44 yards with five seconds left in the half and made the score Colts 10, Saints 6 as the teams headed for the locker room.

Special Moment #13 - Buy Now

The Saints capped off their historic win in Super Bowl with the traditional kneel for the game’s final play.  The ball snapped and securely in his hands, Drew Brees took a knee and the Saints were in the record book as the NFL champions.  This piece is from the spot on the field at the Saints own 4 yard line as the reality of the victory swept across the stadium and throughout the world.

Supplies of each piece are limited to 144 pieces of each unique portion of the field identifiable as the section on which the Special Moment took place.
